Khama Rhino Sanctuary

Click to enlarge the picture Khama Rhino Sanctuary is a small reserve 25 km north of Serowe on the Orapa road. We pitched camp and went into the reserve in 4WD, in search of rhinos. During the game drive we met a few springboks, and one dik-dik. Springboks look like impalas, but they have a black stripe on their side. Dik-diks are very small antelopes (not bigger than a dog), and they are very timid.
We saw a herd of wildebeests, and a lot of zebras. With the sunrise, the reflection of orange light on their white and black skin was beautiful. There was a baby zebra near his mother, and he was shaking with fear at the sight of the vehicles. We were still looking for rhinos, but that morning we were not lucky enough and never saw one… Click to enlarge the picture
